ACH Volume Grows 15.5 Percent in 1st Quarter 2001
The Automated Clearing House Network continues to grow at a robust rate, according to statistics compiled for the 1st Quarter of 2001. Over 1.45 billion transactions were conducted during the quarter, worth more than $4.1 trillion. These figures represent growth rates of 15.5% and 10.0%, respectively, over the same quarter of 2000. First quarter debits were 553 million, and credits were 900 million, for a total of 1.453 billion. The statistics include commercial inter-bank and government transactions, but not “On-Us” transactions. The comparisons are with like statistics from the 1st Quarter of 2000.
