ACH Volume Grows 16.7 Percent in 4th Quarter 2001
The Automated Clearing House Network continues to grow at a double-digit rate, according to statistics compiled for the 4th Quarter of 2001. Almost 1.6 billion transactions were conducted during the quarter, worth more than $4.3 trillion. These figures represent growth rates of 16.7% and 9.0%, respectively, over the same quarter of 2000. Fourth quarter debits were 650 million, and credits were 940 million, for a total of 1.59 billion. The statistics include commercial inter-bank and government transactions, but not “On-Us” transactions. The comparisons are with like statistics from the 4thd Quarter of 2000.
