The Senior Director, Member Development & Engagement is responsible for the recruitment and retention/member relations of Nacha Direct Members ─ consisting of Direct Financial Institution Members, and Payments Associations representing more than 7,500 depository financial institutions across the U.S. The Senior Director, Member Development & Engagement also drives and supports the engagement of other organizations in relevant Nacha programs and activities to ensure that critical voices are heard in support of ACH Network and national association strategies. 


Essential Functions/Core Responsibilities


  • Identify qualified financial institutions (federally insured depository financial institutions)sales opportunities through target list, current Nacha member/supporter relationships, lead follow up prospecting
  • Effectively communicate the Direct Financial Institution Member value proposition, ensure targets are qualified (are a member of a Payments Association) and secure/close new Direct Financial Institution Members
  • Coordinate business development (new sales) and (cross-sales) responsibilities outside of Direct Membership
  • Document daily sales activities in HubSpot, prepare accurate reports and forecasts, manage pipeline, and perform other tasks necessary to drive sales revenue and communicate activities to executive management.

Member Relations

  • Effectively onboard new Direct Members and make appropriate connections with Nacha staff
  • Maintain exceptionally strong Direct Member satisfaction
  • Engage Direct Member organizations directly and in group settings in the representation of Nacha and its objectives, and dialog to understand their individual and collective (by Member type or other segment) needs as relate to the national association and the ACH Network
  • Serve as liaison between Direct Member organizations and Nacha, sharing Member perspectives and feedback with executive management and across the organization
  • Monitor and analyze Direct Member engagement; identify and pursue opportunities to engage them as active participants through programs, volunteer groups, and Network initiatives
  • Support Direct Member needs and requests across the Nacha organization to ensure follow-up and quality service delivery. Support internal needs and requests as they relate to Direct Member organizations, providing follow-up and quality service delivery
  • Support Nacha’s industry visibility through speaking engagements, exhibiting, and sponsorship activities at Direct Member-hosted events, as well as other industry events

Business Development

  • Identify and drive opportunities for Nacha to provide differentiated value to its Direct Members.
  • Manage resources and drive activities in support of Nacha’s Direct Member organizations.
  • Analyze and understand the needs of non-Direct Member constituents, including business end-users, solution providers, technology enablers, and other innovators. Identify ways to engage these audiences in Nacha activities, and work with appropriate staff to target participation in relevant membership, conference/education, volunteer programs, and initiatives.

Operations and Finances

  • Develop and manage budget to meet/exceed budget goals

As an ambassador of Nacha, the Senior Director, Member Development & Engagement will:

  • Advocate for Nacha and ACH Network strategies and objectives with Direct Members and other industry stakeholders. Effectively manage relationships at senior, peer and subordinate levels across the organization.
  • Develop strong industry business and member relationships.
  • Maintain an organizational perspective across lines of business and services and demonstrate an ability to manage evolving and shifting priorities.
  • Posses or acquire a general and strategic knowledge of Nacha and the ACH Network and communicate that knowledge consistently and effectively to the Direct Membership, industry, and staff.
  • Demonstrate comfort in managing large, diverse groups in highly visible business environments.
  • Possess a collaborative work style and consensus-building skills while remaining decisive and goal-oriented as circumstances demand.
  • Exhibit the personal management capacity and experience to quickly earn the trust of Direct Members, industry stakeholders, and staff in an environment of change while empowering and equipping them to be more accountable and collaborative.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in a financial institution or sales to financial institutions
  • Balanced understanding of the ACH Network, Nacha Operating Rules, and underlying business issues affecting Nacha, its Direct Members, financial institutions of all sizes and types, business end-users, solution providers, technology enablers, and other innovators.
  • Current Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) designation or a commitment to earn the credential within two calendar years is viewed favorably but is not required. Other relevant professional accreditations are viewed favorably but are not required.

Required Background / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exemplary sales skills and experience with senior and executive management communications
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills, with solid public speaking skills and an ability to professionally and persuasively communicate with senior industry executives.
  • Strong business and financial management acumen; ability to develop and manage to budget and understand the impact of a positive return for incremental spending.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a high level of professionalism, exhibiting proactivity and follow through, in a dynamic and high-profile environment.
  • Superior time management and organization skills.
  • Self-starter with a well-developed aptitude for leading, building, and participating in teams.
  • Ability to embrace and apply the association’s core values.
  • Microsoft 365, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook proficiency.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.

Working Conditions
An estimated 30+ percent domestic travel is required.
