ACH Network to Provide End-User Education Opportunities

As part of the ACH Network's efforts to educate more corporate end users on the Network and upcoming Rule changes, Nacha is offering two free webinars to corporate end-users. The webinars are limited to only end users, and Nacha encourages our financial institution members to share the links with your corporate (ie business, government, nonprofit, education, association) customers.

Same Day ACH Meets the Needs and Then Some

Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020 | 2-3 p.m. ET

As the industry moves toward payments with faster settlement, Nacha has made enhancements to same day processing rules that have direct end-user impact. In March 2020 the transaction dollar limit was raised to $100,000 per entry, and the average dollar amount of a same-day payment rose by 33%. In March 2021, ACH Network participants will have two additional hours every day for sending Same Day ACH payments. Both enhancements increase the accessibility of Same Day ACH.

Since its inception more than 700 million Same Day ACH payments have been made. Beginning in July 2019 more than 1 million Same Day ACH payments are made every day and the volume continues to grow. The biggest driver has been Direct Deposit and other consumer disbursements, but 2019 and 2020 are showing phenomenal growth of Same Day ACH for B2B payments.

Attendees will learn the scope and impact of the changes to Same Day ACH (including the impacts for end-users of the ACH); the most common, and some surprising, use cases for Same Day ACH payments; best practices for implementation and pitfalls to avoid; and insights into the future roadmap of Same Day ACH.

Preparing for the WEB Account Validation Rule

Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020 | 2-3 p.m. ET

To help prevent fraud on the ACH Network and protect accounts from receiving fraudulent or incorrect unauthorized payments, Nacha has supplemented the requirements for online-initiated payments. This industry-voted rule change takes effect on March 19, 2021. If your organization allows consumers to make purchases or payments via the internet or on mobile devices and directly, electronically withdraws payments from their checking accounts, this rule applies to you:

  • All industries, any size
  • Governments included (Consumer to Business and Consumer to Government payments)

Beginning in March, it will be required that the first time a consumer checking account is used for an electronic (ACH) payment, if the payment is taken or initiated over an online channel, the account number must be validated before sending the transaction. This could be the first time a consumer customer makes a payment, or when a consumer makes an online change to the account number being used for payments. During this webinar, end users will learn if the Rule could impact them, what the Rule covers and doesn’t, and how to prepare for implementation.
