On Nov. 8, 2017, NACHA’s Government Relations Advisory Group (GRAG) held its annual meeting at the Capitol Hill Club. The meeting’s theme was fintech and access to the banking system. Speakers included Politico’s financial services senior reporter, Rep. Bill Foster (D-IL), Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL), Matt Lira (Special Assistant to the President for Financial Policy & Initiatives), and a panel of government affairs staff from American Express, Discover and Regions Bank. Also speaking were staff from the CFPB and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s Innovation Office. The dialogue with press, Members of Congress, regulatory agencies and bank lobbyist provided an interesting perspective of current policy initiatives that may impact the financial services industry.
