Faster Payments 101 is an updated version of the Introduction to Faster Payments in the U.S., an industry resource developed by Nacha and its Payments Association member organizations in 2017. The Alliance’s Faster Payments Playbook Project Team has enhanced the tool as part of its broader effort of developing actionable tools to help advance faster payments in the U.S. market.
HERNDON, Va., Nov. 1, 2018 – The number of ACH payments totaled more than 5.6 billion in the third quarter of 2018, a 6.7 percent increase over Q3 2017, according to NACHA. The ACH Network’s strong performance is driven in large part by online and business-to-business (B2B) payments.
Faster Payments 101 is a necessary precursor to the Faster Payments Playbook, currently under development by the Alliance, which will assist organizations – both financial institutions and business end users – in determining which solutions may be best for them and/or their customers and how best to develop a faster payments strategy.
The ACH Network started 2019 with strong growth, as the number of payments in the first quarter increased 5.8% from a year earlier, and the daily average volume of payments increased 7.5%. The ACH Network set a record in February 2019 as volume exceeded 100 million ACH payments per day for the first time.
