Calling All Third Parties in the ACH Network: There’s an Important New Page for You

Third parties are already a significant part of the ACH Network, and, if anything, as the network grows their roles are only likely to increase. That makes it all the more important for organizations that act as third parties to know their roles and responsibilities under the Nacha Rules to help ensure the ACH Network remains secure for everyone using it.
That’s why Nacha has created a new page dedicated to third parties. Located on Nacha.org, the page is packed with helpful information, starting with some very important definitions. Third-Party Senders are a subset of Third-Party Service Providers—of which there are many types. And they’re all different from Originators. This page helps to sort things out. And for organizations unsure if they’re a Third-Party Sender, there’s a link to Nacha’s Third-Party Sender Identification Tool, an easy-to-use interactive guide that helps answer the question.
Back on the main page, you’ll find links to upcoming Nacha Rules changes impacting third parties (there are three coming up next year, as a matter of fact), plus some existing Rules that third parties need to be mindful of.
The page also includes educational resources such as PaymentsIQ Live!, a new, one-day virtual deep dive event on Nov. 5 focused on Third Parties in the ACH Network. This event—which is eligible for continuing education credits—will cover a wide range of topics including Nacha Rules and risk management. It will also feature a vendor showcase.
Finally, third parties can learn about becoming Nacha Certified, as well as how to get assistance from Nacha Consulting.
This is an important page for all third parties using the ACH Network, so visit today. And since it will be updated, be sure to bookmark it.
