Ten is a very important number this year at Nacha and there’s a lot to celebrate.

Topping the list is the tenfold increase to the dollar limit for Same Day ACH payments just approved by the Nacha membership. The current $1 million rises to $10 million on Sept. 17, 2027.

It’s hard to believe that it was just a little more than four years ago—March 18, 2022, to be exact—that the per payment limit for same day went from $100,000 to $1 million. But at the same time, it’s not surprising that Nacha has already returned to the membership to ask for another increase. You can sum that up in one word: demand.

One look at the numbers explains it. In 2022, there were 697.5 million Same Day ACH payments. Fast forward to 2025 and there were 1.4 billion. That’s a 101% increase in just four years, and right alongside it, the value of those payments jumped 129%, from $1.7 trillion to $3.9 trillion.

That demand for Same Day ACH comes from across the payments community, including from corporates for business-to-business payments. When the $10 million limit begins, expect to see enhanced B2B use cases such as invoice payments, payroll funding, cash concentration, tax payments, and merchant settlement.

Approval of the new dollar limit is a great way to mark another important 10: the 10th anniversary of Same Day ACH. It was September 2016 when the original Same Day ACH went into effect. What an incredible ride from the 13 million credit payments that first partial year.

There are many reasons why Same Day ACH has come so far, so fast, but almost certainly the safety and reliability of the ACH Network top the list. It’s at the heart of what we do every day at Nacha. Demand for a $10 million limit, and the green light to proceed, reflects what the industry requires from the ACH Network.
