So Many Payments Questions. So Many Payments Experts

You’ve got payments questions. At Smarter Faster Payments 2025 you’ll meet lots of folks with answers.
“It’s not only Nacha staff that are subject matter experts. I’m working with three different sessions, and I’ve got representatives from payments associations, and financial institutions, and other organizations that are going to be speaking with me. And they are experts as well,” said Jordan Bennett, Nacha Senior Director, Network Risk Management. Bennett recalled attending Payments in his pre-Nacha days working for the Federal Reserve, when Nacha’s Jeanette Fox—who he knew by phone—came over and introduced herself. “You get to meet so many different people at Payments and put faces to names,” said Bennett.
At this year’s Payments in New Orleans, April 27-30, Bennett and Fox will be among the many Nacha staffers participating in sessions and ready to answer questions at the Nacha booth in the Expo Hall.
Fox, Nacha’s Associate Managing Director, Risk Investigations and ACH Network Risk, said when you come to Payments you’ll be able to connect with “payments professionals at various levels of knowledge and from different sectors of the payments process.” And Fox said the information you take home is invaluable. “It could be one small change or several ideas where they can apply their new knowledge in their own organization.”
Fox also invited attendees from financial institutions to come to the Nacha booth to check their bank or credit union’s entries in the ACH Contact Registry, a key component of Nacha’s Risk Management Portal. “It is crucial—and a [Nacha Operating] Rules requirement—that your contacts are up to date,” Fox noted.
Bennett and Fox were joined on Nacha’s Payments SmartCast podcast by Jennifer Stokley, Nacha General Counsel, who called the conference “an incredible opportunity” for payments attorneys.
“For a payments attorney, it is the perfect conference to attend because you’re going to connect with not only with your legal colleagues but with law firm attorneys, business partners, compliance partners who you work with at other organizations in the payments industry,” said Stokley.
“There is going to be no better time to hear all of those perspectives because, as we know, a lot is changing on the payments regulation front.”
An additional incentive for payments attorneys is the “record number of Continuing Legal Education sessions” available at the conference, Stokley said, enabling them to obtain their CLE credits.
Of course, before you can do any of this you have to register, and Stephanie Prebish, Nacha Senior Managing Director, Association Services, said if you haven’t done so, time is of the essence.
“You need to register for the conference before you can get your hotel,” said Prebish, “and the hotels are going quickly.”
