When your Substack is called “No Dikkering Around” and is billed as “the no-nonsense daily jolt for the writer, performer, and raconteur who wants to get things done” (with the added caution that it “may contain some nonsense”), you know you’re in for something unusual. 

Scott Dikkers is the man behind the nonsense—or the lack thereof. Which is it? You’ll find out when he delivers the April 27 opening keynote at Smarter Faster Payments 2026.

Dikkers’ resume includes starting the humor website The Onion, known for headlines such as “Man Allows All Cookies So Website Won’t Be Mad At Him” and “Ken Burns Announces New 10-Part ‘Mr. Biscuits’ Documentary After Adopting Cat.” 

Dikkers went on to become a New York Times best-selling author with his book “How to Write Funny” in which he noted, “To paraphrase E. B. White, comedy is like a frog—once you start dissecting it, it’s not funny.” That’s followed by his pronouncement that “dissecting comedy and the comedy-writing process is exactly what we’re going to do in this book.”

He’s also appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” sold projects to Comedy Central and MTV, and has a Peabody and a Thurber Prize for American Humor on his mantel.

As always, Payments will also feature a second keynoter at the luncheon, this year being held on Monday, when Jason Y. Lee, Founder and CEO of Jubilee Media speaks.
