Nacha announced its 2023 Pay-Me Award Honorees during the Payments Connection Ceremony at its annual Smarter Faster Payments Conference. These movie-themed awards recognize some of the innovative solution providers that help keep the payments industry fast and secure. 

The ACH Network began 2023 with solid growth in the first quarter, particularly in Same Day ACH where payment dollar values nearly doubled from a year earlier.

The one-year anniversary of Same Day ACH’s $1 million limit is March 18.

Direct Deposits and Direct Payments are the smart and convenient way businesses, individuals, and government entities safely send and receive payments.

The ACH Network continued growing in the final quarter of 2022. Payment volume totaled 7.6 billion, up 2.3% from the fourth quarter of 2021. The value of those payments, $19.4 trillion, is a 3% rise.

Another milestone for Same Day ACH as it notches its 2 billionth payment.

Following the increase of the Same Day ACH dollar limit to $1 million in March 2022, Nacha and the ACH Operators - the Federal Reserve and The Clearing House - have completed the latest phase in the acceleration of ACH payments with the implementation of “Late Night ACH.”

Changes are coming in September with new late night ACH file deliveries to financial institutions that are Receiving Depository Financial Institution (RDFI) clients of both the Federal Reserve and The Clearing House.

It isn’t every day that you see an increase of 1,140%. But when you look at some recent gains by Same Day ACH used for business-to-business (B2B) payments that’s exactly what happened. 

Increasing the Same Day ACH dollar limit to $1 million per payment posed no greater fraud risk than the prior $100,000 threshold, a new survey by Nacha’s Risk Management Advisory Group (RMAG) found. 

The ACH Network moved 7.5 billion payments in the second quarter of 2022, led by growth in Same Day ACH and business-to-business (B2B) payments.

ACH end users have consistently and constantly asked for higher dollar limits for Same Day ACH payments. In March 2020, the original limit of $25,000 was raised to $100,000. Then, two years later in March 2022, the limit was increased again to $1 million per payment.

Could FedNow pave the way for more ACH settlement windows? At Smarter Faster Payments 2022 there was discussion about whether FedNow's functionality could be applicable to other Fed services, including ACH.
